Suicide is the third-leading cause of death for young people ages 15 to 24. Help support us to be the HOPE for a change.

Transforming the Conversation

Grant Us Hope creates communities of leadership and advocacy that enhance mental wellness, safety, and prevention in schools. We develop a community of students that work together to save lives.

One of the programs that we have introduced to our region is Hope Squad. Hope Squad is a school-based, peer-to-peer, suicide prevention program for students with a three-year curriculum that emphasizes suicide prevention fundamentals, self-care, and anti-bullying.

30% of adolescents in the U.S. are diagnosed with mental illness.

Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among youth ages 10-19.

Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death for all age groups in the U.S.

There are twice as many suicides than homicides in the United States each year.

Hope Squad Refers over 25% of total students who see a school counselor for suicide concerns.  Of those, 14% are hospitalized, preventing a potential suicide attempt.

“Hope Squad provides intentional outreach helping students who may not otherwise get the help they need.”

Dr. Jennifer Wright-Berryman Hope Squad Lead Researcher

“While we believe it takes an entire village to raise a child, we believe it takes an entire community to save one.”

- Dr. Greg Hudnall, Hope Squad Founder

A Hope Squad is a school-based peer-to-peer suicide prevention program, which equips and empowers students to be the eyes and ears of a school as they watch out for youth in distress.
